Growing up in a rural town in Zacatecas, Mexico, Jaime Castaneda began his foray into tailoring at the age of 15. Apprenticing for local tailoring shops, he learned the art of needle work and the diligence needed to become one of the main “cowboy tailors” on Lankershim Blvd. Coming to Los Angeles in 1974, Jaime would go on to become the shirt and pants maker at Nudie’s Rodeo Tailors. When Manuel Cuevas opened his own studio, Jaime made the move and became Manuel’s head tailor for 16 years. Choosing to stay behind in California with his family, while Manuel moved his studio to Nashville in the early nineties, Jaime opened his own studio and created his signature label in 1994.
Regarded as the “last of the cowboy tailors” on Lankershim Blvd., Jaime continues to expand his esteemed clientele by providing a collaborative creative approach to design while delivering impeccable quality. He is honored to have created wardrobes for greats such as: Bob Dylan, Chris Isaak, Dwight Yoakam, Marty Stuart, Porter Wagoner, ZZ Top, Buck Owens, Don McLean, Merle Haggard, Little Jimmy Dickens, Carlos Martinez, Joan Sebastian, Ben Harper and David Arquette. In addition to custom creations the shop also does museum quality restoration and has created outfits for countless blockbuster movies.
